Pete ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI-powered personal training app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

Email address and password (used for authentication only)
Display name (optional, set during onboarding)

Fitness & Health Profile

During onboarding you provide information used to generate your training plan:

Fitness goals, experience level, and training preferences
Age, gender, height, and weight
Available equipment and schedule
Any physical considerations or limitations you choose to share

Workout Data

Training plan details (workouts, exercises, sets, reps, weights)
Logged workout sessions and performance history
Workout status (completed, skipped, rescheduled)

Voice Data

Short audio recordings captured during workouts when you use voice commands (e.g., "8 reps at 135 pounds")
Audio is sent to OpenAI Whisper for transcription and is not stored by us after processing
Transcripts are stored temporarily to support the coaching conversation and are not retained long-term

2. How We Use Your Information

Generate and manage your training plan — your fitness profile is used by AI to create personalized workout schedules and exercise recommendations
Provide real-time coaching — workout data and voice transcripts are sent to AI during active workouts to give context-aware coaching responses
Track your progress — logged sessions are stored and analyzed to update your performance profile over time
Improve the app — aggregate, anonymized usage patterns may be used to improve features

3. Third-Party Services

Pete uses the following third-party services to operate:

Supabase — authentication, database, and backend infrastructure. Data is stored in Supabase's US-based cloud. Privacy Policy
Anthropic (Claude) — AI coaching, plan generation, and workout modification. Your fitness profile and workout context are sent to Claude to generate responses. Privacy Policy
OpenAI (Whisper) — voice-to-text transcription of workout commands. Audio clips are sent to OpenAI for processing. Privacy Policy
ElevenLabs — text-to-speech for Pete's voice responses. Response text is sent to ElevenLabs to generate audio. Privacy Policy

We do not sell your data to any of these services or any other third party.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your account data and workout history are stored in Supabase with row-level security — only you can access your data
Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using iOS Keychain via Expo SecureStore
All data is transmitted over HTTPS
Voice audio is processed in memory and is not stored on our servers

5. Data Retention

Your account and fitness data are retained as long as your account is active
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us
Voice audio clips are not retained after transcription

6. Children's Privacy

Pete is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Request deletion of your account and data
Withdraw consent for data processing (note: this may prevent use of the app)

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of Pete after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
